Do you have a daily routine?
I know most online entrepreneurs don’t want to set patterns and predefined routines. However, I can attest to you that having one is helpful in the long run.
The truth is, you already have a routine even though you might not know. If you study carefully, there are those things that you can’t fail to do in a day. By connecting all these activities, they make up your routine.
Hence, it will now depend whether your routine is profitable or not. It’s a great idea to create a good daily routine that can lead you to success.
Meditation can help you get the daily routine in place
I’m a huge fan of meditation. If you want to remain focused and maintain your momentum for the rest of the day, you need to empower the mind.
By meditating daily, you strengthen the mind. You literally go through all your activities for the day in your mind and prepare the brain for excellence in those tasks.
Shockingly, I often get most of these tasks done and more. Guess what? The secret is to believe it in your mind that you can do something. If the mind accepts it, it powers your body.
But if the mind is weak, no matter the strength of your body, it would be a nerve-wracking task getting things going.
Meditation also gives you happiness. It’s the key to a successful day.
But why do you need to set a routine?
Well, here are some reasons:
It’s essential when creating good habits
If you want to create a new habit, your daily routine is a necessity.
Let me tell you something about habits; you see, what you talk about becomes what you do, and if you do something for more than 21 days, then you will have created a habit, which will build your character and ultimately your life.
So, it’s easy to create a habit if you have a routine. It’s also easy to subdue a bad habit with a carefully crafted routine.
Helps to spur creativity
Elon Musk, the second richest person in the world right now, has a thing to do with routines. He once said that all his daily activities are planned out in 5-min slots.
If you think about Elon, he is a creative guy, right? Where do you think he drives his creativity from? It’s from carefully planning his time. He is able to focus long enough on a single task within the allocated time, innovate, and discover new methods, techniques, and formulas.
The key to creativity, therefore, is to know exactly what you will be handling at a given time.
Maintains your productive levels
It’s healthy to set a routine. If you wake up to a day that has no routine, you will most likely be less productive. A routine helps to ensure you know what you are up to for the day. It gives you the determination to get each task done.
Imagine if you didn’t have a routine set out. You will not know what to do after finishing one task. Hence, you will waste some time deciding on which task to do next. That’s where a routine comes into play.
Ensures you prioritize highly-profitable tasks
Don’t jump from one task to another because you may never get things done. It’s when you set a routine that you can achieve success in those tasks.
It helps you to understand that hitting the gym in the morning will set you up for success that day. You will also learn to prioritize highly profitable tasks – those that bring you the most returns – and shut down those that don’t add value to your business.
The moment you learn to prioritize your daily tasks, you will learn to focus and grow your business faster.
How can you set up a routine?
Here are some steps:
Make a list of your daily activities
The first thing is to list all your daily activities. Yes, just take out your notebook and list what you do every single day. The more specific you are, the better.
Making a list will help you in creating a plan that will lead you to success. It will help you to know which activities come first in your daily routine.
If you are someone who likes meditation like I do, include that as the first thing in the morning. List what you will do after meditation such as preparing a cup of coffee and baked eggs to power you through the day.
Maybe the next thing will be emails. You usually spent about one hour sending and replying to emails. List these activities down.
Create a plan
A plan helps to highlight all the objectives you will have in regards to your daily activities. At the end of the day, your routine should be geared towards your daily and monthly goals.
With a plan, you can easily tie the activities to your goals. That ensures you have the right motivation and momentum to get the work done.
You can even create a template for this. Yes, it’s time to get serious about your routine. I already told you that where you will be in the next five years will be dependent on your daily routine.
Set time for relaxations
Don’t work throughout the day. A good routine should always have short breaks. These breaks are essential in letting the brain reenergize and refocus.
I’m talking about short half an hour breaks of at least three times a day. They can be 30 min or more. It all depends on the person.
What you do during these breaks should be completely different from your main tasks. It can be playing a guitar, piano, a computer game, or even relaxing on the couch outside.
Nothing great has ever been achieved without consistency. If you want to build anything great such as a business brand, you need to be consistent.
With consistency, you can generate leads on Facebook, close deals, and grow your brand one day at a time.
Be consistent in your daily routine. I know sometimes it can be a daunting task following set patterns and systems, but it will be worth it in the end.
Remember to reward yourself
Finally, after all this is up and running, don’t fail to reward yourself. Sometimes following a routine can be tiresome. But believe me, by unplugging and rewarding yourself with a vocation or just having a day off to do what you want can do the magic.
Rewarding yourself will also help to impart a sense of discipline that you will only reward yourself after successfully following a routine.
